2024 Newcastle University Cancer Research UK-funded Studentship for Advanced Medical Researchers

Are you interested in investigating a key driver of advanced prostate cancer with a view to developing future therapeutics? Prostate cancer kills 12,000 men in the UK each year and requires new, more effective treatments. By therapeutically exploiting common genomic vulnerabilities we have the potential to develop more effective treatments without debilitating side-effects. Crucially, this project will combine contemporary in vitro and in vivo methodologies, including CRISPR knock-in and knockout approaches, to validate susceptibility biomarkers that will enable more effective treatment sequencing to enhance treatment outcomes.

The successful applicant will undertake cross-disciplinary training in multiple molecular and cellular approaches and be an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team involving molecular biologists, immunologists and medicinal chemists together with both national and international collaborators.
