Mrs Queenie Gibbins, a supporter of the University, has a particular interest in assisting students in emerging areas of scientific study. This scholarship was established to assist with the retention and success of students in these fields of study.
The scholarship is funded by a donation from Mrs Queenie Gibbins.
Aim and Benefits
Subject to the availability of funds, there will be one or more scholarships awarded annually to a total value of $2,000.
The scholarship is awarded for one year of full-time study (36 units) or its part-time equivalent, subject to the scholarship holder maintaining their enrolment in the relevant degree and satisfactory academic progress.
The scholarship will be paid in instalments at the beginning of each semester.
Requirements
Applicants for the scholarship must be:
- An Australian citizen, a permanent humanitarian visa holder or a permanent resident of Australia; and
- Enrolled in the second or subsequent year of a four year Flinders University undergraduate Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree (i.e. have completed a least 36 units), or have commenced a Flinders University one year Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree; and
- Able to demonstrate financial hardship.
Interview date, Process and Venue
Selection Criteria
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and academic merit with preference being given to students studying within the biotechnology field.
Selection will be made in accordance with procedures approved by the Director, Student Administration.
