The Newtons’ Undergraduate Scholarship in Mathematics is now open to receive applications from home/UK students studying any undergraduate mathematics degree led by the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Surrey, starting in September 2024.
The Newtons’ Undergraduate Scholarship in Mathematics has been established by Paul and Jenny Newton, both of whom studied mathematics as undergraduates at the University of Surrey.
Aim and Benefits
The Newtons’ Undergraduate Scholarship in Mathematics provides £3,000 a year for up to three years, plus £1,000 for a Professional Training placement if taken.
The Scholarship aims to encourage and support students from lower income backgrounds on any of our undergraduate mathematics degree programmes:
- BSc (Hons)/MMath Mathematics
- BSc (Hons)/MMath Mathematics and Statistics
- BSc (Hons) Mathematic with Music
- BSc (Hons) Financial Mathematics.
Students can receive this Scholarship in addition to a University Merit Scholarship as well as any other bursary, prize and award for which they are eligible, if successful.
Requirements
To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:
- Have an offer to study at undergraduate level on one of our mathematics degrees
- Be a UK/home student
- Have family income of no more than £35,000.
