The University has developed a range of scholarships to support our final year undergraduate students choosing to progress to postgraduate study.
The Widening Participation Ambition Scholarship is designed to support eligible Kent graduates to continue to Master’s study at any of Kent’s locations. This is verified via prior eligibility for the KFSP.
Aim and Benefits
This scholarship consists of £5,000 towards the cost of tuition fees for fulltime UK students and a total of 12 awards will be available under this scheme for entry in September 2024. (£2,500 per year will be available for part time UK students)
Requirements
- Eligible candidates must:
- Be progressing directly from undergraduate to postgraduate study at Kent, having completed the undergraduate programme.
- Have received the Kent Financial Support Package (KFSP) during undergraduate study.
- Have received an unconditional offer for a programme by the deadline 16 July 2024. If you have not received an unconditional offer (or a conditional offer where the only outstanding condition(s) is your fee deposit and/or your final results), the application will be rejected and the next eligible candidate will be selected.
- Postgraduate Taught programmes only. Postgraduate Research Master’s students are not eligible due to its lower fee.
- MArch students who are direct entrants from an UG degree are eligible. Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma Students are not eligible.
- Undergraduates applying to study at any of the following University of Kent campuses are eligible to apply:
- Canterbury
- Medway
- Paris

This scholarship is available for current final year Kent undergraduate students only.

Applications for the Widening Participation Ambition Scholarship should be made via your application portal, where you will be able to view any scholarships for which you may be eligible to apply.
You will need to have received a formal offer for your programme in order to submit a scholarship application.
In order to apply for this scholarship, you will need to submit the following documents:
- CV*
- x1 supporting academic or professional statement. Your programme application's First Referee will be used for this criterion.†
- 200 word statement on “Why I have chosen to continue my studies at the University of Kent".
- Please upload your statement in Word or pdf format. Other formats will be rejected.
- “You will be asked to confirm by way of a check-box that we may use the demographic information you supplied to us when you started at Kent to establish your eligibility for this award.

†The statement can be from a tutor or lecturer who is aware of your academic achievements to date, or a professional employer who can write in support of your application and your motivation for further study.
Eligible applicants will be shortlisted based on academic achievement. Final decisions will also take into consideration the statement, CV, and the strength of the supporting statement.
