AI and Data Science Postgraduate Scholarship is a £10,000 cash bursary or fee waiver to study data science, business analytics and fintech at the University of Greenwich.
The scholarship is to assist applicants from under-represented groups to complete their study and progress into the AI and Data science workforce, and is available for full and part-time study of this course. Please note that part-time students will be awarded the scholarship on a pro rata basis.
Aim and Benefits
The scholarship is a £10,000 cash bursary or fee waiver to study one of the following programmes: MSc Data Science & Its Applications, MSc Business Analytics, MSc Fin Tech & Finance
Requirements
Priority for the scholarships will be given to the following four groups:
- Black students
- Female students
- Disabled students
- Students from low socioeconomic background (Index of Multiple Disadvantage quintiles 1 and 2, low household income)
Consideration will also be given to applicants who meet other underrepresented criteria in the following secondary categories:
- Care experienced students
- Estranged students
- Gypsy, Roma, Traveller students
- Refugees
- Children from military families, veterans, and partners of military personnel
Applicants must also:
- Have a UK nationality or residence status, and meet the nationality or residency status criteria to qualify for the postgraduate masters’ loan
- Hold an offer to study for the academic year 2024/25 on one of the following programmes: MSc in Data Science and its Applications at our Greenwich or Medway campuses, MSc Business Analytics or MSc Fin Tech & Finance
- Have studied a non-STEM (e.g politics, economics, business, arts) or far-STEM (e.g. biology, geography, psychology, medicine) subject at undergraduate degree level
- Not already have studied a postgraduate degree in the same broad subject area (e.g. computer science, AI, data science), or in a core-STEM subject (e.g. physics, engineering, mathematics, statistics, IT)
Interview date, Process and Venue
- Scholarship funding will be prioritised for female students, black students, disabled students, and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, to ensure that the AI and data science workforce reflects the makeup of our society.
- Scholarships will be allocated on a first come first serve basis to the four priority groups.
- Consideration will also be given to applicants who meet the other underrepresented criteria in the secondary categories from: Friday 28 June 2024.
- All applicants will be contacted to advise on an offer of a place to study on the course, and the outcome of the scholarship award, as soon as possible.

Application Process
The application for the scholarship is made as part of the application to study one of the three aforementioned Postgraduate courses.
To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must, by the deadlines below, have:
- Applied to study MSc Data Science and its Applications, MSc Business Analytics or MSc Fin Tech & Finance via the University of Greenwich’s online application form
- Provided a personal statement as part of your application explaining which of the 9 scholarship eligibility criteria you meet, why you are applying for the course and the scholarship, and how you think this scholarship will help you on the course and your future aspirations (300 word maximum)
