Quebec-Luxembourg Scientific Research Funds 2024

In December 2023, the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and the Quebec Research Funds (FRQ) renewed their framework cooperation agreement to promote Quebec-Luxembourg collaboration in scientific research around major research challenges. Company.

Through this agreement, the FRQ and its major societal challenges department participate in the CORE program managed by the FNR for the financing of bilateral projects.

CORE is the central program of the FNR. Being a multi-annual thematic research program, the primary objective of CORE is to strengthen the scientific quality of Luxembourg public research in the country's research priorities adopted by Luxembourg in 2019 (National Research and Innovation Strategy) :

  • Industrial processing
  • Personalized healthcare
  • Sustainable and responsible development
  • 21st century education

Resolutely focused on major societal challenges and requiring multiple scientific perspectives, these research priorities support international collaborations and are fully in line with the funding programming of the FRQ's major societal challenges department.

Aim and Benefits 

  • Financing of a maximum of $300,000 with the possibility of use over 3 years.

  • The grant paid must be used for expenses directly related to the completion of the project. All budget items provided for by the RGCs are eligible (section 8 of the RGCs). Indirect research costs equivalent to 27% of the awarded budget will be paid in addition to the amount of the grant intended for research.

Requirements 

To be funded, the Quebec component of the team must include at least one researcher eligible to receive and manage FRQ funding. The eligibility criteria are:

  • Meet status 1, 2 or 3 of the RGC of the FRQ
  • AND
  • Have a role at least equivalent to a co-researcher, that is to say, to contribute significantly or provide specific expertise to the research project that is the subject of the request

Note *The request must also detail the anticipated budget from the FRQ and specify the part managed by each Quebec co-researcher.

Interview date, Process and Venue 

  • The peer-reviewed publications resulting from the research made possible by this grant must be distributed in immediate open access (without embargo), under an open license, in accordance with the Open Access Distribution Policy (revised in 2022) of the FRQ.

Note that the deadline time on this page has been adjusted according to the time difference with the main managing organization of the program, the FNR. This therefore corresponds:
